SECURE operates and manages the Virden Municipal & Industrial Waste Facility, a Manitoba Class I Landfill. The Virden Landfill is strategically located in southwest Manitoba close to producing and active development drilling areas in Manitoba and southeast Saskatchewan.
We operate the treatment pad which allows remediation of hazardous waste to meet landfill disposal criteria. The treatment pad also allows for immediate response to emergency spill disposal including oilfield and industrial waste.
The Virden Waste Facility is also a permitted Municipal Solid Waste Facility which allows for disposal or recycling of construction and demolition materials, scrap metal, tires, wood and domestic waste.
This facility provides the secure disposal of miscellaneous oilfield and industrial waste including but not limited to contaminated soils, drilling muds, drill cuttings, hydro vac waste, and residuals from tank and treatment processes. All industrial and oilfield waste is screened prior to disposal for landfill acceptability. This waste must meet the waste acceptance criteria outlined by the license issued by Manitoba Conservation.
From the stop lights on the Trans Canada #1 Highway at Virden, turn North onto Commonwealth Drive. Travel approximately 1 mile to the stop sign (Intersection of Commonwealth Drive & HWY 259). Turn East on HWY 259 and travel approximately ¾ of a mile. On the Left (North) there will be a white sign that reads “Virden Municipal & Industrial Waste Facility” by a gravel road. Proceed North on the gravel road for the entire distance of the road (approximately 4 miles) and it will take you directly to the landfill.
