Employees from SECURE's Drilling Services division took part in the annual "Bike to Work Day" in order to help eliminate pollution and congestion in Calgary's downtown core
On May 3rd, 2013 Calgary cyclists put their car keys down and hopped on the bike trails for their daily commute to work in support of the Calgary Bike to Work Day, including some of our very own SECURE employees. Braving the chilly morning air and threats of rain the riders dusted of their bike equipment and joined many other Calgarians
for the morning commute.
Bike to Work Day helps celebrate and promote cycling as a healthy, convenient, efficient, and low-cost means of transportation, which helps contribute to the reduction of inner city traffic congestion and pollution. The event started at 6 am with 7 "Energy Pit Stops" placed throughout the city for riders to stop in for free bike tune ups, prizes, refreshments, and encouragement. These pit stops gave cyclists the opportunity to have their bikes tuned up for spring and summer free of charge by different bike shops from around the city. This is preceded by a free pancake breakfast at Eau Claire market, where the sun finally decided to come out right in time for the group to enjoy some pancakes and cycle in to the office together.
It was a great day to start of the cycling season, and allowed for the riders to meet other bike-commuters in the organization.
